Job Description
The Staff Accountant will play a key role in maintaining financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who is committed to accuracy and possesses a strong understanding of accounting principles, particularly in the context of environmental projects.
Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations.
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Support budget preparation and financial forecasting processes.
Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including environmental accounting standards.
Conduct regular audits of financial records to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
Collaborate with project managers to monitor project budgets and expenditures.
Assist in preparing reports for grant applications and funding opportunities.
Participate in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
Provide support during external audits and tax preparation.
Assist with payroll processing and employee benefits administration as needed.

Job Requirements
Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the environmental or nonprofit sector.
Proficient in accounting software (e.G., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the environmental or nonprofit sector.
