Job Description
Shipping Clerk
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in shipping operations, including managing carrier relationships, negotiating rates, and handling both domestic and international shipments.
Key Responsibilities:
Scheduling & Carrier Relations: Coordinate and schedule shipments with carriers using various portals (e.G., UPS, FedEx, and other freight forwarders).
Rate Negotiation: Negotiate shipping rates to secure competitive pricing for clients.
Quote Generation: Provide accurate quotes by estimating weights and calculating shipping costs.
Documentation & Compliance: Complete and maintain Bills of Lading (BOLs) and other required shipping documents; ensure compliance with import/export regulations.
Warehouse Communication: Collaborate with the Warehouse Supervisor and management to align resources with customer needs and priorities.
Customer Service: Deliver exceptional service to shippers and carriers, providing value-added services tailored to their needs.
Workstation Management: Manage workstation assignments, train new team members, and uphold safety and housekeeping standards in the workspace.

Job Requirements
Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS).
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to generate and verify shipping documents, including packing slips, bills of lading, and shipping labels.
Understanding of shipping regulations, customs procedures, and freight classifications.
Knowledge of inventory control and stock management principles.
Familiarity with various carriers and shipping methods (LTL, freight, parcel, etc.).
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Attention to detail to ensure order accuracy.
Excellent communication skills to coordinate with vendors, drivers, and internal teams.
Problem-solving skills to handle discrepancies or logistical issues.
Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods.
Capable of lifting and carrying heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
