Job Description
Sanitation Operators are responsible for all aspects of equipment sanitation, changeovers, and plant cleanliness to ensure product quality and compliance with sanitation and safety regulations. This role focuses on executing sanitation duties efficiently while supporting production, maintenance, and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform all plant Clean-In-Place (CIP) processes, including routine, end-of-week, and allergen changeovers, in a timely manner
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in accordance with sanitation and safety protocols
Coordinate with maintenance and production teams to dismantle and prepare equipment for cleaning
Disassemble and reassemble production lines and equipment as required
Clean and sanitize production equipment, floors, air lines, hoses, and surrounding areas
Remove and replace equipment as needed to support production setup requirements
Clean and maintain chemical rooms, processing floors, dry goods areas, restrooms, and additional workspaces
Clean wash buckets, trash containers, handrails, and related equipment
Oversee removal of production waste, including garbage and render materials
Maintain accurate records, including downtime documentation
Demonstrate working knowledge of packaging and production equipment mechanics
Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and all safety regulations
Perform routine preventative maintenance and equipment changeovers
Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other departments
Exercise sound judgment in the absence of production leadership
Safeguard equipment, tools, and personal protective equipment (PPE)
Attend required training sessions related to sanitation, safety, and food quality
Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements
Proficiency in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Previous sanitation experience required
Prior food manufacturing experience preferred
Strong multitasking and organizational skills
Basic math, computer, and troubleshooting skills
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and flexible schedules as needed
Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening, physical exam, and background check
Ability to meet physical demands of the role
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required
2 3 years of related experience or training preferred
Equivalent combination of education and experience considered
Food Safety & Quality Responsibilities
Adhere to all food safety and quality standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Accurately complete required food safety and quality documentation
Report any known or suspected food safety or quality concerns to appropriate leadership
Participate in all required food safety and quality training
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Frequent lifting of materials up to 50 pounds
Repetitive bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and use of hands
Ability to climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear
Work Environment
Work performed in a production or warehouse setting
Exposure to cold temperatures (approximately 45 F)
Facility processes food allergens, including peanuts
Schedule supports a 24-hour operation and may include weekends and mandatory overtime
Proficiency in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred
