Job Description

We have an opening for a Temp. To Hire Traffic Coordinator at our Ontario location. We are looking for qualified candidate to begin as soon as possible. The schedule is Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm with 45 minute meal period at $16.00 to $18.00 hr. DOE.

Coordinates activities and assists with traffic assignments by verifying and keeping records on outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment. Responsible for the logistical processing customer orders, including coordination with vendors, sales staff, customer service representatives, billing representatives, warehouse and shippers by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.

Assists with monitoring outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.

Determines space requirements and position of shipment in boxcars and trucks and lays out position of shipment.

Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded boxcars and truck doors.

Compiles records of unfilled orders.

Posts weight and shipping charges.

Prepares bills of lading.

Coordinates and routes shipments under instructions in customer routing guide.

Determines most efficient and economical routing and mode of transportation and consolidating orders with carriers when possible.

Provides freight quotes to customers, sales representatives and to other departments.

Investigates and resolve freight issues.

Communicates scheduling and shipment arrival dates with company departments or customers logistics department.

Adjusts errors and complaints.

Opens and/or closes building during regular shift or approved overtime shifts as needed and/or requested by management.

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or General Ed Degree (GED); or a minimum of one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
